Storytelling is also about authenticity and transparency, which allows people to engage with you on a deeper level. Storytelling helps create rapport between the storyteller and listener that will keep them engaged throughout your presentation or speech!

In presentations, storytelling can help summarise complicated ideas and establish context for those who might not be familiar with what they are being told. Storytelling allows you to paint pictures of past successes so that everyone can learn from them instead of just reading dry bullet points off of an index card!

Storytelling helps individuals connect with your message by making it relatable through examples -- this engages their imaginations rather than just high-level concepts, which could be boring.   1. Introduce the setting and characters (time & place).

Workplace translation: What is the relevant business context? This could be the macro context of the industry & set the scene.

2. Share challenges or conflicts faced in this setting - how were your main characters tested?

Workplace translation: Now, let's zoom into the micro context. How will this pitch impact the stakeholders in the short term & what do you want to achieve in this meeting.

3. How could you overcome these challenges or conflicts? What insights can be learned from these stories of struggle and triumphs over adversity?

Workplace translation: The problem solved! Sharing insights, fixers & solutions to help benefit your mutual goals.

4. Summarise the presentation & key takeaways for audience members to apply & give an explicit action they can make as a follow-up.
